About the Designers

Barbara King is the owner and principle designer of King Home Designs. Barbara has over 25 years experience in drafting and design. After graduating from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 1983 with an associate degree in drafting and design, she worked many years as a drafter, designer, and project leader for several architects in both Mississippi and Tennessee doing both commercial and residential projects. Shortly after moving to Tennessee in 2004, Barbara's dream of owning her own business as a residential designer became a reality. In 2006 King Home Designs came into existence. Barbara lives in Maryville, TN with her husband, two children, and their American Eskimo dog, Sugar and cat, Smokey, who is named after the beautiful Smokey Mountains in East Tennessee!

Kim Mink learned to love home design at a young age. Her grandfather began teaching her when she was 9. With their shared interest, they spent many Saturdays at the drafting table. After her military enlistment in the Air Force, as an Environmental Engineering Tech, Kim began drafting for a survey company in Savannah , GA. She has 13 years combined experience with subdivision layouts, plot plans & boundary plats.

After moving to Tennessee in 2004, she began drafting and designing for Architects. She has a knack for space planning and enjoys a challenge. With her survey experience and knowledge of city and county regulations, she has become a valuable asset to King Home Designs. Kim has 2 teenage sons and lives in Maryville, TN. She still enjoys Saturdays at the drafting table!
